About yoko
Hi! My name is Yoko, and I am the founder of Yokomotion Dance School – an inclusive space where energy, music, and community are at the center.
Dance has been a part of my life since I was six years old and started with classical ballet. After a break, I returned to dancing in 2019 when I began hip-hop classes. At the same time, my interest in Korean pop music grew, and I threw myself into learning choreography from my favorite groups. Before I moved here, I was part of two cover dance groups, which gave me both experience, development, and a strong community.
In 2025, I got the chance to hold a workshop during a meet-up in Ålesund. That experience really ignited my passion and made me decide to focus on teaching others what I am passionate about. Later, in November and December 2025, I held my first independent workshops – and the response was fantastic. It gave me the courage to take the next step and start my own dance school.
In 2026, I participated in the K-Dance Competition Camp (KDCC) in South Korea. There, I trained with dancers from all over the world and learned from professional choreographers who work directly in the industry. My stay in Korea gave me important insight: dance is not about perfection. It's about energy, confidence, expression, and joy – and that is precisely what I want to convey to my students.
